WestStone Group has opened Cottages at McDowell, a 219-unit single-family rental community in Avondale, Ariz., that will be managed by Mark-Taylor Residential. According to Yardi Matrix data, the developer took out a $45.5 million loan from PenCor Capital in 2021 to finance the construction of the project.
The 19-acre community comprises one- and two-bedroom floorplans ranging from 641 to 997 square feet. Homes feature 9-foot ceilings, in-unit washers and dryers, walk-in closets and smart home packages, along with private fenced backyards. Common-area amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, spa area and grilling stations.
Located at 1350 N. 117th Ave., Cottages at McDowell is off Interstate 10 and some 16 miles west of Phoenix. The property is also adjacent to Friendship Park, which encompasses multiple sports courts and playgrounds. Less than 3 miles from the property, there is the expansive Gateway Pavilions shopping center.
In the past month, Mark-Taylor has been steadily increasing its BTR management portfolio in the Phoenix area. Earlier in October, in partnership with Sunstone Two Tree, the company opened another community in Avondale, some 2 miles from Cottages at McDowell. Additionally, it also recently assumed management of a 135-unit SFR asset in Mesa.
