A partnership between Cityview and Stockbridge has broken ground on a new Los Angeles multifamily project. Construction on the 265-unit Apollo community is expected to be complete in 2025.
Cityview and Stockbridge first teamed up to buy the site for Apollo from Dinerstein Cos. for $22.3 million in February 2022. Since then, the project has landed an undisclosed amount of construction financing from City National Bank and Banc of California. The developers also tapped WPIC Construction as the project’s general contractor, AC Martin as its architect, Nadia Geller Designs as the interior designer and MJS Landscape Architecture as the landscape architect.
When fully built out, Apollo will offer studio, one- and two-bedroom units equipped with smart thermostats, keyless entry and smart home systems. Property amenities will include a pool with a spa deck, coworking spaces with private areas and a conference room, a “maker space” with a podcast room and a 3D printer, a community room with a commercial-grade kitchen and a fitness center. Apollo will also offer its residents bike lockers, storage, courtyards, and a transit kiosk that has public transportation schedules and info. The property is aiming for LEED Silver and FitWel certifications.
Located at 12888 Crenshaw Blvd., the transit-oriented Apollo is two blocks away from the Metro Green Line. Residents will have nearby access to the Los Angeles International Airport and SoFi Stadium, as well as major employers like SpaceX, the Tesla Design Center and Ring.
Developing throughout LA
Besides Apollo, Cityview has been busy developing Belle on Bev, a 243-unit community located in Los Angeles’ Historic Filipinotown neighborhood. That project is slated to be complete later this year. Outside Los Angeles, the firm is also working on a 378-unit community in an opportunity zone located on Oakland’s waterfront.
The vertically-integrated firm has some recent development experience within Los Angeles, as well, after completing two major multifamily projects. Cityview recently opened The Parker, a 123-unit community that started preleasing in July. The firm also completed construction on the 296-unit Jasper, an Opportunity Zone project near downtown Los Angeles, after first breaking ground on it in January 2021.
