Capstone Development and Boaz Ventures have received financing to develop Nexus on Holmes, a $60 million, 249-unit student housing community in Huntsville, Ala.
Fite Building Co. will serve as general contractor. Williams Blackstock Architects designed the property, and OPAL Investments is the lead equity investor. Nexus on Holmes is slated to open in the summer of 2025.
Located at 4315 Holmes Ave. NW, adjacent to the University of Alabama Huntsville Campus Recreation Center, the 239,000-square-foot property will be situated in an opportunity zone and will offer convenient walkable access to the campus, Cummings Research Park, Redstone Arsenal, MidCity Bridge Street and downtown Huntsville. Various shopping, entertainment and dining venues including El Patron Supermarket, Jamos Café, UAH University Park and Burger King are nearby.
The four-story community will include a mix of one-, two- and four-bedroom units and is slated to house undergraduate and graduate students, as well as UAH faculty and staff. Students at Nexus on Holmes will make use of outdoor amenities including two courtyards, outdoor pool and barbecue grilling area, as well as indoor amenities such as community kitchen, TV lounge, multi-purpose room and quiet study lounges. Additionally, parking will be available in surface lots adjacent to the new community.
