The Drew Co. has completed SkySail at Driftway, a 78-unit luxury community in Scituate, Mass. Cube 3 Studio served as main architect and Dellbrook | JKS as general contractor.
Drew purchased the site from MBTA and broke ground on the project in 2021. Rockland Trust Bank provided a $27.6 million construction loan for the development of the transit-oriented community.
SkySail at Driftway comprises six three-story buildings, 9,000 square feet of commercial space, 12 income-restricted units and around 160 parking spaces. As a part of the arrangement with the MBTA, The Drew Co. constructed a parking lot on a portion of the site.
The LEED Silver-certified community incorporates one- and two-bedroom floorplans ranging between 750 and 1,328 square feet. Amenities include a rooftop lounge, electric vehicle charging stations and controlled access. Units feature washers and dryers, energy-efficient, stainless-steel appliances, walk-in closets and balconies or patios. The property also features on-site maintenance, handicap accessibility and concierge services.
SkySail at Driftway occupies 4.5 acres at 340-348 Driftway and 318 Driftway, adjacent to the MBTA Greenbush Commuter rail station. The property is near Chief Justice Cushing Highway, which provides direct access to downtown Boston.
Another transit-oriented development has recently broke ground in the Greater Boston area. Trammell Crow Residential has started construction on a 210-unit luxury multifamily property in Waltham, Mass. Conveniently located near the MBTA’s Waltham Station, the community will provide access to North Station in downtown Boston and Porter Square Station in Cambridge.
