Florida Polytechnic University, in partnership with Capstone Development Partners, has broken ground on the 430-bed Residence Hall III, the third student housing community on its Lakeland, Fla., campus. The $42 million project is slated for delivery by fall 2024.
Design Collective provided architectural services, while Clancy & Theys serves as general contractor. Capstone Management Partners will handle operations and maintenance services.
Residence Hall III will be the first dormitory owned by Florida Poly, the other two being under the ownership of Vector Cos., as reported by The Ledger. The state provided tax-exempt revenue bonds valued at $76 million, insured by Build America Mutual, which will fund the current development and will enable the university to acquire Residence Hall II.
The five-story, 137,000-square-foot building will comprise one-, two- and four-bedroom suites. On-site amenities will include a multipurpose room, offices, study spaces and an interior courtyard. Students will also have access to campus-wide facilities such as a swimming pool and recreation rooms.
Located at 4700 Research Way, the campus is just south of Interstate 4, between Tampa, Fla., and Orlando, Fla., having numerous open green spaces and parks nearby. The property is also roughly 12 miles from downtown Lakeland, which features multiple retail and entertainment options.
